We recommend that you research the characteristics of any breed of dog before you take one home. Do you live in bear-country? A KBD may be very helpful with keeping bears away from your home. Known for being great hunters, extremely agile, highly intelligent, intuitive, and engaging with often hilarious facial expressions, these dogs make fantastic companions for humans +++so much personality+++. Our experience is that they have a sense of humor too! Other unique features are eyes set forward like a primate, and we love that curly tail!
Our dogs are 100% purebred KBD. Sire "Cooper" is AKC registered. Dam "Sasha" doesn't have her AKC registration yet, though we are working on that. She has a genetic test showing 100% pure KBD, with exceptionally diverse (strong) genetics. Wait until you see where the average KDB is on the bell curve, and where she is. It's quite impressive. Genetic tests are as important as AKC registration. We are happy to share all historic and genetic profiles with prospective buyers. If that isn't enough, these two KBD's actually love each other. They snuggle and kiss all the time.
As you conduct your internet research, or join KBD social media groups, prepare to encounter some who have strong opinions about everything from "devaluing the breed" by crossing with the breeds to which country has "the best" KBDs, etc. Our philosophy is that there is merit in maintaining the "purebred KBD." We seek to pair dogs with good genetics. Our goals are straightforward and simple; further the breed and help each one of our pups find a loving and appropriate home or a working ranch with some "jobs" to do.
Helpful Tip - There are breeders out there who may have inbred or poorly bred. Each prospective buyer can review Cooper's AKC registration or Sasha's genetic testing. A positive rapport with your breeder should make the transaction "feel right." If something doesn't feel right, keep looking.
